RESEARCH

University of Applied Arts Vienna

> Communications Theory (1986 - 2005) > Media Theory (seit 2005)

Since its foundation as Department for Communications Theory, the Chair has - with the guest professors Roy Ascott, Hans Ulrich Reck and Manfred Fassler - triggered numerous discussions. While in the initial years the possibilities of international electronic networks took priority, discussions about art and later the social aspects of networks changed the fundamental aim. Today, the Department, which was renamed in 2005, can draw from a rich pool of different approaches and make a correspondingly varied array of educational options available.
