Webart Shortcuts.
Outlines of an Art World.
2001 - 2003
Twenty-one personalities from the fields
of theory, art creation and journalism were questioned in 2002
about different aspects of contemporary art in the world wide
web. Today, their statements offer a definitive overview of the
many positions held, relating to art phenomena in the web.
The inherent possibilities of the world
wide web, as well as a highly engaging conceptuality of new
media (art) are emphasised.

Example
“I think sometimes we are too
romantic in what concerns to technology. Gothic Cathedrals are
wonderful examples of interesting uses of technology... I think
great works are great not because they are "single",
but plural in all senses: they change patterns, ways of seeing,
uses and functions of old and new tools. By doing so, sometimes
they break frontiers and limits. How would we define
Bruneleschi's Dome of Santa Maria dei Fiori? Art, architecture,
geometric revolution, historical landmark... Technology is not
something independent of all other elements that play an
important role in the creative process. So, everything is mixed:
technical options, ideological positions, aesthetic elections,
cultural background and experiences. I don't believe that all
those elements should be mixed up in a homogeneous body of
beliefs, but we must know why we do this way and not that way.
In short, I'm for the chaos but I do not trust anything that is
arbitrary.”
