Katharina Gsoellpointner / Ursula
Hentschlaeger:
Paramour. Art in Context of New
Technologies.
Triton: Vienna 1999
In Ursula Hentschläger's second part,
the topic is narrowed down to art on the World Wide Web while
the view broadens, opening up a wide field between economy,
sociology and constructivism.
Gerald Raunig Kulturrisse 1/2000:
KulturSchriften, S. 27
In the second part of Paramour (Netz
Werk/NetWork) Ursula Hentschläger deals in great detail
with the notion of information and its meaning for new media
technologies, focusing on the Internet. In this context, there
is no doubt about the fact that media art has pre-existed TV,
video or computer art. Hentschläger writes about many
technical and historical details concerning the Internet and
its importance for (media) art, which again and again has to
underscore that it is different from the programming
departments of the software corporations unless it wants to be
considered as a 'mere' innovator (yet) to be (potentially)
commercialised or a mere producer, thus losing its position at
the predetermined breaking point of society.
Christoph Jacke Telepolis 1999
Hentschläger's style is entertaining
and thrilling. (...) Moreover, she has a pleasant way of moving
one step away from pure quotes, presenting her own
interpretations and ideas.
